Ash Creek Fire IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION
Date: July 1, 2012
Time: 3:0 0 p.m.
Location : The areas of Stacey Creek, Marvel Creek, Little Pumpkin
Creek, down to Highway 212.
IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION: Evacuation notifications are in progress in
the above general areasto the north and east of the Ash Creek fire.
The Ash Creek fire is moving to the north and east and continues to
actively burn in that direction. Structures are threatened and
evacuations of those residences, along with any visitors in or around
the Whitetail Cabin and Holiday Campground, arein progress.
Hot temperatures, very low relativehumidity levels and strong
sustained northwest winds at 20-30 mph today combined to create
extreme fire activity and spread to the east toward the areas that are
now threatened. ThePowder River County Sheriff is currently working to
evacuate the threatened areas.
The weather forecast for the rest of today continues the Red Flag
warning already in place. Elements of the weather forecast are
favorable for erratic fire behavior and large fire growth.
Highway 212 remains closed to thru traffic.
