URGENT!
OUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE PREMIUM CIGARS!
WE HAVE 1 WEEK LEFT TO VOICE OUR CONCERNS TO THE FDA BEFORE THE COMMENT PERIOD ENDS ON AUGUST 8, 2014.
As we have been alerting our consumer base, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is on the verge of regulating premium cigars with severe and negative consequences. It’s critical to the entire cigar industry and all cigar consumers that we make our voices heard and deliver a clean and concise message to the FDA.
HERE IS A RECAP OF THE FDA REGULATIONS THAT COULD BE IMPOSED:
- $10.00 minimum price on all premium cigars
- A ban on cigar events where free cigars are available to legal age adults
- No new cigars – limited selection – no new seasonal or limited editions
- Increased prices due to regulation and compliance requirements for all premium cigars
- Compliance requirements will take years to complete and cost millions of dollars forcing many companies out of business
- Elimination of manufacturer’s packaging in favor of “Plain-Packaging” laws and the elimination of identifiable branding
- Limits on nicotine levels in cigars to a level near zero, severely impacting the flavor of cigars
- New taxes or “User Fees” on cigars
- Over 85,000 American jobs could be lost
- The end of America’s “Mom & Pop” premium cigar retailers
- Over 250,000 jobs in Latin America that produce cigars could be lost, severely impacting economic/political stability in the region
THIS IS THE FINAL WEEK AND OUR LAST CHANCE TO TELL THE FDA THAT PREMIUM CIGARS SHOULD BE EXEMPT FROM REGULATION!
Below we have provided a sample comment to the FDA's proposal. Please copy and paste the following letter to submit in your comment to the FDA:
As an adult consumer of premium cigars, I am opposed to FDA's attempt to regulate these products. Premium cigars are unique, artisanal products that deserve their own categorization and are not defined by any price point. FDA regulation would eliminate thousands of jobs in the U.S. and abroad and have a negative economic impact in these regions. The proposed regulations are unnecessary, unwarranted, and serve only to deprive millions of hard-working Americans of their favorite pastime. Please do not disrupt the legal-aged adult's right to enjoy a cigar.
Click Here to Take Action Now! Feel free to include any other relevant comments or suggestions you may have on the proposed regulation, but be sure to include the above letter in its entirety. It is imperative that we make our voices heard and deliver a clean and concise message to the FDA, as we literally can't afford not to.
Click here to read the FDA's full document outlining the proposed options. The section on covered cigars begins on page 31. We urge you to read and understand this proposal thoroughly before submitting your comment.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
COMMENTS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED BY THE FDA UNTIL AUGUST 8, 2014.
