RECORD HEAT AND DRY WEATHER SETS NUMEROUS RECORDS IN ANCHORAGE.

SEVERAL RECORDS FELL IN THE MONTH OF JUNE AND OTHER RECORDS WERE
CHALLENGED AS RECORD HEAT IMPACTED ALASKA THROUGH THE PERIOD. THE
FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF THE EVENTS THAT OCCURRED IN THE MONTH OF JUNE.

A RECORD HIGH 17 DAYS REACHED 70 DEGREES OR WARMER IN THE MONTH OF
JUNE. THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 14 DAYS SET IN JUNE OF 1936.
IN ADDITION... THE 17 DAYS OF 70 DEGREE OR WARMER HEAT FELL JUST 4
DAYS SHORT OFTHE ALL TIME RECORD OF 70 DEGREE OR WARMER DAYS SET IN
2004.

1936 (PREVIOUS RECORD)...13 DAYS AT OR ABOVE 70 DEGREES
AUGUST 2004... ................21 DAYS AT OR ABOVE 70 DEGREES

ALTHOUGH ANCHORAGE TOTALED 0.46 INCHES OF RAINFALL DURINGTHE MONTH OF
JUNE... 0.42 INCHES FELL ON JUNE 2ND. ONLY ANOTHER 0.04 INCHES WAS
RECEIVED FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH. NO RAIN FELL BETWEEN JUNE 5TH AND
JUNE 30TH... LEADING TO 26 DAYS OF NO MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION IN
ANCHORAGE. THIS SETS THE ALL TIME RECORD FOR LONGEST PERIOD WITH NO
MEASURABLE RAINFALL DURING METEOROLOGICAL SUMMER (JUNE THROUGH
AUGUST).
