I took 'some time' off to earn enough to go back, but got
'side-tracked' by a letter from President Richard Nixon. My numberhad
come up as one of the last 5 numbers in the Vietnam era draft. During
my 4 year enlistment, I was stationed in the Bay Area where I started
attending Foothill College. Itook classes there for 20 years (on and
off) taking a wide variety of classes adding up to over 150 units. I
took beginning guitar classes because the teacher was gorgeous,
although I had been playing for 6 years. I then took quite a few music
courses, and tutored music reading for a while. I took scuba diving
for a PE class, but discovered my ears don't do wellbelow about 30
feet. I took programming classes (in multiple languages), all of the
networking courses they had, and used the skills to advance my career
as a support engineer/course developer/instructor in high-tech. I had
my choice of about 16 different A.S. degrees in 1995 when I finally
decided to 'graduate' from Foothill!
Columbia College in spring 1971 to assist David Purdy with the
college's first drama production. At the time, she was a recent San
Francisco State University graduatewith a B.A. in theatre arts. The
playat Columbia was one that they EllenStewart adapted from a
children's novel by Norton Juster The Phantom Tollbooth a film
originally star child star former student of Columbia College
Graduated Guy Perea.
